I know I haven't posted anything to my blog in a long time, but as finals have sprung upon like a tiger springs upon a powerless and helpless gazelle in the wild, I have been come to conclude to rid myself of Facebook and stick with blogging. Why? Well, If finals are like a Tiger that stalks and kills, then Facebook is like drought that starves and parches the energy that I need to continue studying for my moribund finals.
Today in church we talked about the gospel. Imagine that. But more importantly, we had a lesson which talked about the steps to build a rock solid testimony. Things such as being humble, having faith, desire, planting the seed, willing to allow the seed to grow and acting upon your developing testimony were included in the rock solid testimony building steps. During the lesson, particularly when we discussed the way to plant the seed, I had an interesting thought that I really liked: we can prepare the soil and increase the light so that the seed can grow- if it is supposed to grow. The idea is that we are supposed to allow the seed to grow in order to see if it is good, and if it is, then we can know that it is something from God. HOwever, the real problem comes when the seed can't grow because we aren't prepared, therefore allowing the seed to die not because it is bad, but because we were poorly prepared to receive the seed.
There are many personal ways to apply this principle, but one that I am most concerned with is the seed of a future and eternal spouse. Lets consider her to a seed and suppose that God brings her into my life and plants her in my soil. Is my soil adequately prepared? Has it been nourished and contains the elements necessary to provide opportune growing conditions? Furthermore, what light do I allow to shine on the young seed? The Light of the gospel, good influences, positive examples and time? I must seek after true sources of light and constantly look to improve my soul so that I can give the young seed a chance a grow and likewise know with a certainty that it is from God.
Pretty cool hu?
I like that thought Taylor....nice analogy! You are THE MAN!!!!!
